Bladder Failure UK is an independent organisation dedicated to improving the lives of people in the United Kingdom who are living with bladder failure. We provide accessible information, signpost specialist support, and work to raise awareness of a condition that is too often hidden from public and professional discourse.
We are founded on the belief that lived experience matters — that those navigating bladder failure have unique insights that should shape how the condition is understood, discussed, and supported.
Bladder Failure UK was founded by Professor Paul Hackett, who lives with non-neurogenic bladder failure and manages the condition through clean intermittent self-catheterisation six times daily. Paul's experience — of the practical demands, the emotional challenges, the gaps in public awareness, and the lack of a dedicated advocacy voice — led directly to the founding of this organisation.

SupportTo connect people affected by bladder failure with the practical and emotional support they need, and to reduce the isolation that so often accompanies the condition.
AdvocateTo raise the profile of bladder failure as a disability and a public health issue — in policy, in healthcare settings, and in everyday life.
